KTM's Motor Slip Regulation (MSR) is an electronic function aimed at riders looking for greater rear wheel stability during downshifts or when closing the throttle abruptly.
Its operation complements the bike's traction control (MTC), but works in the opposite direction: when engine braking torque is too high due to a sudden downshift or an abrupt throttle close, the ride-by-wire system opens the throttle valve just enough to prevent the rear wheel from locking up or skidding. Thanks to its integration with MSC, this function also works when the bike is leaned over in a corner.
The photo shows the graphic identity KTM uses to identify this electronic function within its software settings catalogue.
In use, MSR provides greater control over the rear wheel during sudden deceleration, both in a straight line and in corners, reducing the risk of skidding when entering a corner with a mistimed downshift or a sudden throttle close.
