Motor Slip Regulation, known as MSR, is an electronic function from the PowerParts range that complements the MTC traction control, but works in the opposite direction: instead of limiting the power delivered to the rear wheel, it steps in when the engine brakes excessively. It is enabled via the authorisation code generated through the XC2 tool, with no additional mechanical component fitted.
When engine braking torque rises sharply, due to an abrupt downshift or suddenly closing the throttle, the ride-by-wire system opens the throttle valve just enough to stop the rear wheel from skidding. Thanks to its integration with the MSC, this regulation also stays active while leaning into a corner, not only in a straight line.
The photo corresponds to the KTM PowerParts graphic material associated with this activation, identified with the brand and item reference, with no physical parts visible since it is a software upgrade for the engine electronics.
In practice, this function adds rear wheel stability during the harshest deceleration, both in a straight line and mid-corner, intervening automatically on the throttle valve without the rider needing to change how they brake or downshift.
