This O-ring is a small sealing part used at various points on the engine and the bike's fluid circuits, wherever two surfaces need to be sealed or a bolt, fitting or plug needs to avoid fluid or pressure leaks. It belongs to the KTM PowerParts catalogue of genuine spares, within the sealing components.
As its designation indicates, it has an 8 millimetre inner diameter and a 1.5 millimetre cross-section, and is made from NBR70, a nitrile rubber with a 70 Shore hardness. This material is commonly used in mechanical O-rings for its resistance to hydrocarbons, oils and fuels, as well as its stable behaviour under sustained compression.
The image shows a small black rubber ring with a circular cross-section and a smooth finish, with no inscriptions or visible marks, as is typical of this type of seal.
Once fitted in place, it prevents leaks and ensures the seal of the joint, so it is recommended to replace it every time the part it accompanies is removed, since the material loses elasticity over time and with exposure to heat.
