This upper shell belongs to the handlebar damping system and protects the top of the mount assembly where the elastomers that filter vibrations are housed. It is a spare part within the PowerParts range for the chassis and handlebar area.
It is a moulded plastic cover that closes off the top of the handlebar mount housing, shielding the internal damping components from dirt and moisture. Its geometry is designed to fit directly onto the body of the mount, with the fixing points needed to hold it in place without interfering with the rest of the handlebar components.
The photograph shows a black plastic piece, rectangular in shape with rounded edges and a slight curve that follows the shape of the mount it fits onto. The surface has a smooth, matte finish, with no visible markings on the outer face.
As a closing cover, its function in use is to seal and protect the handlebar damping assembly from dust, mud and water, helping the internal elastomers maintain their performance over time and through use on track or road.
