The air filter box is the part of the intake system responsible for housing the filter and directing air towards the throttle body, and this unit is the genuine KTM spare part for replacing a box that is damaged, cracked or has broken mounting tabs.
In the photo it is a rigid injection-molded plastic piece, in black, with a wraparound shape designed to fit into the chassis cavity intended for the intake. Several integrated air ducts and intakes can be seen on its body, along with various mounting points and tabs for securing the filter and sealing the assembly tightly.
Its function is to keep the air path sealed from the outer intake to the filter and from there to the engine intake, preventing unfiltered dust or water from entering. Replacing a deteriorated air filter box with this genuine part restores the intake system's airtightness and its original fit in the chassis.
