This Progressive Handlebar Damping System, known as PHDS, replaces the rubber dampers fitted as standard on the handlebar mount with a machined assembly designed to better filter out the impacts reaching the rider's hands and arms.
It is built from aluminium with an anodized finish and EC-V approval. The machined mount incorporates rubber inserts that absorb both chassis and engine vibration and harsh impacts, while also providing additional horizontal damping of the handlebar. To tailor the stiffness to each rider and discipline, the system accepts additional damping stops in three different grades: soft, medium and hard.
The photo shows the machined mount body in anodized aluminium, with the rubber inserts visible inside and the contact surfaces where it attaches to the handlebar and the clamp.
In use, this assembly protects the wrists and the humerus joints from impacts, improves precise handlebar control and lets each rider fine-tune the damping level according to their weight, riding style or the terrain they ride on.
