This special M5x14 screw is a fastening element from the PowerParts range, designed to replace the original screw in case of loss, breakage or corrosion. Due to its specific design, this is not a generic hardware-store screw, but a part engineered to fit precisely at the mounting point for which KTM developed it.
It features a metric thread with a 5 millimetre diameter and 14 millimetre length, a measurement matched to the thickness of the assembly it must pass through. The metal finish protects the part against rust and makes assembly and disassembly easy with standard tools.
The image shows a screw with a dark metallic-finish head and visible thread along its entire length, of small size, in keeping with its use at fixing points for bodywork or fairing components.
Using it as a replacement part restores the correct tightening torque at the original mounting point, avoiding the use of generic hardware that might not fit with the same precision.
