This rubber bush is the anchor piece KTM uses to fix the windshield to the fairing, preventing direct contact between the fairing plastic and the mounting screw. It is a PowerParts replacement part designed for anyone needing to replace a part that has deteriorated or cracked due to the passage of time and engine vibrations.
It is made of rubber, an elastic material that dampens vibrations and prevents the windshield from transmitting play or noise to the fairing assembly. Its geometry, with a narrower central section, houses the fixing screw while the outer body fits into the hole in the fairing, spreading the clamping pressure without damaging the surrounding plastic.
The photograph shows a small part, black in colour, with a smooth surface and a spool or double-cone shape, characteristic of the rubber bushes used at the anchor points of fairings and windshields.
