This damping material kit is a PowerParts replacement part for the inside of the exhaust system, specifically for the section responsible for absorbing the sound waves generated by the engine. It is the part you turn to replace when the silencer loses effectiveness after prolonged use.
It is a specific packing material for the silencer body, whose function is to reduce exhaust noise while maintaining the gas flow intended in the original design of the system. Over time and due to the high operating temperatures, this material degrades and loses part of its absorption capacity, so renewing it periodically is part of routine exhaust maintenance.
The photo shows the material presented as a rolled mat or felt, light in color and fibrous in texture, ready to be inserted into the silencer body during the replacement process.
Renewing this damping material restores the exhaust's original sound level and prevents the silencer from running with already worn-out packing.
