This kickstarter spring is the KTM replacement part responsible for returning the kickstart pedal to its resting position after use, a mechanical component intended for maintaining the kickstarter system on models fitted with it. It is a commonly replaced part when the original spring loses tension or breaks due to material fatigue.
It comes as a helical spring made of steel wire, wound in regular coils with the ends shaped into hooks so they anchor both to the pedal shaft and the engine case, transmitting the return force needed for the kickstart lever to spring back after starting.
