This rear wheel dampening rubber is a component from the PowerParts range intended for maintenance of the motorcycle's rear hub, aimed at those noticing play or jerks in the drivetrain when accelerating or rolling off the throttle.

It is a rubber piece that sits inside the rear hub, between the sprocket carrier and the wheel axle, whose function is to absorb the torque shocks transmitted from the drive chain to the wheel, smoothing out abrupt changes in acceleration.

The photograph shows a black rubber piece, curved in shape with a solid profile, with a smooth surface and a noticeable thickness, characteristic of an element designed to work under compression.

Over time and with use this rubber loses elasticity, so replacing it restores smoothness to power transmission to the rear wheel and reduces the perceived play in chain jerks.
