The ball is a small mechanical component that is part of KTM's anti-hopping clutch system, included in the PowerParts clutch spares range. It is used together with the release ring and the ramps of the mechanism to generate the axial movement that allows controlled clutch slip during hard downshifts.
It is a small-diameter metal sphere, with a fully polished surface free of imperfections, suited to rolling and sliding over the release ring ramps without causing premature wear at the contact points.
The photo shows a ball with a bright metallic finish, with a smooth, reflective surface, free of marks, engravings or visible recesses, as expected of a rolling element.
Within the clutch assembly, this ball transmits movement between the ramps of the anti-hopping mechanism, allowing the system to activate controlled slip at the right moment during abrupt deceleration.
