This KTM heat protector, in carbon fibre, is part of the PowerParts range and covers the exhaust header to reduce heat transfer towards the bodywork and the rider's leg.
It is made from high-rigidity carbon, an extremely light and strong material with low thermal expansion and good behaviour under sustained high temperatures. It has a glossy finish that reveals the woven fibre texture and carries HOMNN_EU approval. Being such a lightweight part, it barely affects the overall weight of the bike.
The image shows a curved-profile piece, designed to fit the contour of the header, with the characteristic texture of woven carbon beneath a polished, glossy surface.
Its function in use is twofold: it insulates against the heat generated by the exhaust while also adding extra protection against flying stones, branches or impact in the event of a fall.
