This KTM heat protector, made from carbon fibre, belongs to the PowerParts range and fits over the exhaust header to shield it from heat and from the knocks typical of off-road use, while also protecting the rider's leg from unwanted contact.
The part is built in high-rigidity carbon, an extremely light and strong material that barely expands under heat, so it holds its shape even under sustained high temperatures. It has a glossy finish, with the woven carbon fibre visible beneath the resin layer, and carries HOMNN_EU approval.
The photo shows a curved shell, moulded to wrap around the header, with the carbon weave pattern visible on the surface and rounded edges that help it follow the profile of the exhaust pipe.
Fitted to the exhaust, it acts as a barrier between the heat of the header and the rest of the bike's components, adding extra protection against stones, branches or impacts in the event of a fall, with barely any added weight.
