This cover closes and protects the distributor mechanism housed in the engine, a replacement part from the KTM PowerParts range intended for anyone who needs to replace the original cover due to breakage, wear, or after working inside the crankcase.
It is a low-profile part that fits over the distributor housing, secured with several perimeter screws that fasten it to the engine crankcase and which, once fitted, sits flush with the outer surface of the engine block to keep dirt or moisture out of the mechanism inside.
The photograph shows the metallic finish of the cover, with a smooth surface and the screw holes distributed along its edge, as well as the perimeter recess where the sealing gasket sits against the crankcase.
Its role within the engine is purely one of sealing and mechanical protection, keeping the distributor isolated from the outside while allowing it to be removed for inspection or maintenance work without needing to open other parts of the crankcase.
