These 2.7 mm friction plates are the friction discs that, together with the smooth metal plates, make up the clutch pack, within the PowerParts transmission spares range. They are designed for anyone servicing or renewing the clutch due to loss of grip or wear of the friction material.
Each plate has a metal core covered by a 2.7 mm thick layer of friction material on its faces, responsible for generating the friction needed to transmit engine torque when the clutch is engaged. The thickness of the lining is a key figure when checking wear against service limits.
The image shows circular plates with a brown or tan finish on their friction surface, textured and porous, with a tabbed or toothed contour that engages with the clutch basket to transmit rotation.
The condition of this friction material directly affects the clutch's ability to transmit power without slipping, so replacing it once the thickness has decreased helps restore a firm, progressive engagement.
