This magnetic drain bolt is an engine maintenance part for anyone changing the oil on their KTM, whether at home or at a trusted workshop. It is a sump drain plug with an M5x30 thread and an ISA30 wrench head, a PowerParts spare designed to replace the original bolt when the gasket or thread wears out.
What sets it apart from a conventional drain bolt is the integrated magnet on the end that sits in contact with the oil. This magnetic tip retains metal particles shed by the engine during operation, preventing them from circulating again through the lubrication circuit. The body keeps the same M5x30 thread size and ISA30 tool fitting as the original part, making it easy to install with the correct wrench.
The photo shows a small bolt with an internal hexagonal head and a silver metallic finish. At the threaded end, the magnet housed in the tip is visible, with dark residue attached corresponding to the metal filings it has captured, a visual sign of its magnetic filtering function.
In use, this drain bolt helps keep engine oil cleaner between changes by trapping metal particles that would otherwise remain suspended in the oil. It is a simple part to check and clean at every oil change, taking advantage of the moment when the sump is already open.
