This size 42 idle jet is the calibrated jet that regulates fuel flow in the idle circuit of the KTM carburettor, responsible for metering the mixture at the lowest engine speeds and during throttle opening transitions.
It is a small threaded part, with a central orifice precisely calibrated according to its numbering, in this case size 42. Its body features a slotted head for a flat-blade screwdriver, designed to make fitting and removal in the carburettor body easy without the need for special tools.

Changing the idle jet for one with a different number allows the engine's behaviour at low revs and during throttle transitions to be adjusted, making it a common part in fine carburetion tuning.
