This lower shell is part of the handlebar damping system and closes off the base of the mount where the elastomers that absorb vibrations transmitted to the grip are housed. It is a spare part from the PowerParts range within the handlebar and chassis section.
It is made from moulded plastic, with a geometry designed to fit onto the lower part of the handlebar mount and be secured using the anchor points provided on the assembly. Its constructional role is to close off the housing from the underside, complementing the upper shell to keep the internal damping components protected.
The photograph shows an elongated, low-profile black plastic piece with a smooth, matte finish and the cutouts needed for the fixing elements to pass through. The shape of the piece follows the contour of the mount it attaches to, with no protruding elements.
In use, this shell protects the lower part of the handlebar damping assembly from dirt, mud and water, helping to keep the elastomers and other internal components in good condition despite the demands of track or off-road use.
