This cylinder base gasket is part of the engine breakdown components for KTM and fits between the crankcase and the cylinder sleeve, at the point where both components must seal perfectly. It is a common spare part within the PowerParts catalogue for anyone carrying out an engine strip-down, replacing the cylinder or checking the cylinder seating area.
It is a flat gasket, cut to the exact shape of the cylinder's inner diameter and with the corresponding holes for the fixing bolts and for the internal coolant and lubrication passages. Its function is to prevent oil leaks and maintain a tight seal at the joint between crankcase and cylinder, an area subject to varying pressure and temperature while the engine is running.
