This chain link is the part that lets you close or repair a section of the drive chain without having to replace it entirely, a common solution for anyone servicing their bike at home or in the workshop. Within KTM's range of transmission spare parts, this reference solves the breakage or wear of a specific link on a one-off basis.
It consists of two metal side plates and a central pin which, once fitted, reproduces the same pitch and dimensions as the rest of the links in the original chain, so the operation of the assembly is not altered. The metal finish withstands the contact with grease, dust and water typical of the drive chain area.
The photo shows a small, elongated part with a flattened profile, with a silver tone and smooth surface on the plates, together with the cylindrical pin that runs through the body of the link.
Fitted to the chain, this link restores the continuity of the drive chain after a breakage or after shortening it, without having to remove or replace the whole chain.
