The KTM skid plate is an offroad protection part designed for riders who put their bike through demanding off-road riding conditions, within KTM's range of chassis and engine protection.
It is made from C-SMC (Carbon Sheet Molding Compound), a highly resistant carbon compound with a thickness of 3 mm that combines extreme lightness with high impact resistance. It mounts directly onto the chassis, and the part is separated from it by rubber mounts that dampen vibrations. The finish is held to the same quality standard as the rest of the brand's components.
In the photo, the characteristic matte black colour of the carbon-SMC is visible, with the slightly grainy texture typical of this material and a wraparound design that precisely follows the lines of the chassis underside and the bottom of the engine. The mounting points with the rubber mounts mentioned above can also be seen.
Its precision-fit design makes for easy installation, and it provides more effective protection for both the chassis and the engine against rock strikes and impacts typical of offroad use.
