This KTM engine-braking regulation, known as MSR, is a software upgrade that works in opposition to and alongside the bike's MTC traction control. It is activated on the original control unit, with no physical parts fitted.
When engine drag torque becomes too high, whether from a sudden downshift or an abrupt throttle close, the ride-by-wire system opens the throttle valve just enough to prevent the rear wheel from slipping. Thanks to the MSC lean-angle system, this function also works with the bike leaned over in a corner.
As this is a digital product, the photo on this listing shows the graphic identification of this upgrade within the PowerParts catalogue, with the KTM logo on a white background and no mechanical parts shown.
In everyday use, it provides stability during aggressive downshifts and demanding corner entries, controlling the rear wheel's behaviour at moments when engine braking could otherwise cause it to slip.
