This temperature switch is an electrical component of a KTM's cooling system, intended for anyone needing to replace the original sensor due to failure or a malfunction of the engine temperature warning. It is a part approved for use in the European Union, within the PowerParts electrical spares range.
Its function is to detect the temperature of the coolant or the oil, depending on where it is installed in the engine, and send the corresponding signal to the bike's electrical system, either to activate the radiator fan or to display a warning on the instrument panel. It carries HOMNN_EU approval, certifying its conformity for the European market.
The photo shows a switch with a threaded metal body, an electrical connector on one end for wiring connection, and a hexagonal section that allows it to be tightened with a wrench in its housing in the engine or cooling circuit.
Replacing this switch restores reliable engine temperature readings, a reading needed both for automatic fan activation and to prevent the engine from running in overheating conditions without the rider noticing in time.
