This reed petal is part of the intake system on two-stroke engines, responsible for regulating the flow of the air-fuel mixture into the crankcase based on the vacuum generated by the piston. It is a replacement part from the KTM PowerParts range intended for maintaining the reed valve block.
It takes the form of a thin, flexible petal with a trapezoidal shape, fitted onto the intake reed block body, resting against its stops and sealing against the block seat so that it opens only in the direction of gas intake.
The photograph shows the translucent color and the thin, slightly flexible appearance of the petal material, with the characteristic trapezoidal cut of this type of component and the smooth surface that rests against the reed block.
As a part subject to constant flexing while the engine runs, replacing it periodically helps maintain a proper intake seal and prevents mixture leaks that could affect engine performance.
