This sound-deadening material kit for the silencer is part of the KTM PowerParts range and is designed for those carrying out maintenance or repair work on their bike's exhaust system. With accumulated mileage and high temperatures, the wool that dampens sound inside the silencer loses density and the exhaust gets louder; this kit allows that packing to be restored without having to replace the entire silencer body.
It consists of a technical fibre wick resistant to high temperatures, designed to sit between the perforated core and the outer sleeve of the silencer. Its fibrous structure absorbs the sound waves generated by the flow of exhaust gases, performing the same acoustic insulation function fitted as standard on KTM exhausts.
The photograph shows the material presented as a loose wick or roll, light in colour and with a texture similar to mineral wool, with the fibrous, lightweight look typical of this type of thermal and acoustic insulation.
Using it restores the original sound level of the exhaust when it has been altered by wear of the internal packing, avoiding the need to replace the complete silencer.
