This component belongs to KTM's exhaust spare parts range and is aimed at riders who demand precise control over their bike's sound level, especially for track use. It fits inside the silencer and acts as an acoustic filler element, wearing out with engine use.
It is made from an absorbent material able to withstand the heat generated by the exhaust gases, with the purpose of dampening the sound as they travel through the silencer. With riding hours, this material loses density and therefore damping capacity, making periodic renewal necessary to maintain the intended acoustic performance.
