This control cover is a genuine PowerParts replacement part for the engine of the KTM 85 SX, designed for riders and workshops that need to replace the original component after it has worn out or been damaged through racing use. It fits onto the engine case, closing off and protecting the control mechanism housed inside.
It is made from a technical plastic resistant to high temperatures and to continuous exposure to oil and grease from the engine case, with a thickness designed to fit precisely into the machined housing of the engine without creating play. The finish is matte, typical of engine components that do not need an additional cosmetic treatment since they remain partly hidden behind the bodywork.
The photograph shows a circular cover with a stepped profile, in black, with a slightly domed outline that follows the curvature of the engine case and several fixing points distributed around its perimeter for the retaining screws.
Its function is to keep the internal engine compartment sealed, preventing dirt from entering and lubricant from escaping around the control mechanism, so it is worth checking its condition whenever that area of the engine is disassembled.
