This rubber grommet is the part that protects electrical wiring at the point where it passes through a panel or fairing, preventing the cable from rubbing directly against metal or plastic. It is a PowerParts replacement part commonly used in electrical installations and wiring harness repairs.
It is made of rubber, with dimensions of 9x17x7 millimetres defining the inner diameter, outer diameter and thickness of the part, with a grooved profile around its circumference to fit and stay fixed to the edge of the hole through which the wiring passes.
The photograph shows a round black part, with a visible perimeter groove and a central hole through which the cable runs, similar in appearance to a wide-section seal.
Fitted in place, this grommet protects the cable's insulation from rubbing and wear, preventing short circuits caused by contact with metal edges.
