This ignition cover gasket is the sealing element fitted between the alternator cover and the engine crankcase, within the PowerParts engine spares range. It is a part that is commonly replaced every time this cover is opened to check the alternator stator or rotor.
This is a flat gasket shaped to match the perimeter and bolt holes of the cover, performing the function of sealing the joint between both machined surfaces to prevent oil leaks from that area of the engine once fitted.
The photo shows a thin-profile gasket, with a cut-out contour that follows the shape of the cover, including the holes for the fixing bolts and the openings needed for the engine's internal passages.
Fitting a new gasket every time the alternator cover is removed ensures a proper airtight seal, preventing remnants of the old gasket from compromising the seal between the two surfaces.
