This silencer cap is part of KTM's PowerParts range and replaces the standard silencer within the exhaust assembly, aimed at riders looking to shed weight in this area compared with the original factory solution.
It is made from titanium, a material that reduces the weight of the exhaust assembly compared with steel solutions, while maintaining the strength needed to withstand the high temperatures generated by the engine. The cylindrical body is built from welded titanium sheet, with the inlet connector designed to attach to the rest of the exhaust line via a clamp.
The photo shows the characteristic grey, matte tone of unpolished titanium, with visible weld seams at the joints between the different sections of the body and a metal retaining band at the inlet end. The area closest to the gas outlet shows the discolouration typical of heat exposure.
Its titanium construction reduces the unsprung weight at the rear of the bike compared with a steel silencer, one of the reasons this type of part is used in setups geared towards more demanding use.
