The DL 48x58 dust seal is a PowerParts replacement dust wiper for the front fork, fitted where the stanchion slides inside the fork leg. Its function is to prevent dirt, dust and water from reaching the oil seal and the sliding surface of the stanchion.
Measuring 48x58 millimeters, referring to the stanchion diameter and the outer diameter of the part, it is made from a flexible elastomer material capable of following the suspension's constant travel, with an inner lip fitted tightly to the stanchion that maintains sealing contact throughout the fork's full stroke.
The photograph shows a black rubber part, ring-shaped, with a ribbed profile on its outer face and a narrower inner edge acting as a sealing lip; the surface has the characteristic matte finish of technical rubber.
Once installed, this seal extends the service life of the oil seal and the chromed stanchion by keeping abrasive particles away from the outside, helping the fork maintain smooth operation over the miles.
